Denise van der Plaat

Denise van der Plaat MSc (1992) is a researcher for the Research Group Knowledge analysis societal security. Her work there focuses on the relation between care and safety. She is also involved in various studies on the Person-Specific Approach (PGA) and Top X.

In addition to her work for the research group, she is a programme coordinator for the start-up incentive programme ‘Gelijke kansen voor een diverse jeugd’ (‘Equal opportunities for a diverse youth’) at the University of Amsterdam. This research programme is part of the NWO Dutch Research Agenda (Route Jeugd in ontwikkeling, opvoeding en onderwijs - Youth in development, upbringing and education).

Denise graduated as a education specialist in the area of social upbringing and education issues. Before that she worked at the Netherlands Youth Institute, where she was involved in supporting the transformation and the effectiveness of youth assistance at municipal institutes. She has also worked as a municipal policy officer and scientific researcher at the national Child Care and Protection Board.
