Frits de Dreu studied art history in Utrecht and Leiden. He previously completed the teacher-training programme for Visual Arts in Amersfoort. He has been working at HU University of Applied Sciences Utrecht since 1993, as a lecturer for the programme Cultural and Social Development (CMV); nowadays named Social Work.
Frits de Dreu has been affiliated as a researcher for the Participation and Urban Development since 2016, within the line of research ‘De impact van kunst en creativiteit’ (‘The Impact of Art and Creativity’). Important partners with which he has collaborated are the Tweetakt Festival, the Dancers, and the Municipal Theatre Utrecht, Corrosia in Almere, and the Municipal Theatre of Amsterdam.
He is currently working for the province of Utrecht, on the Public research: living labs - a study of the public experience, public appreciation and public image of culture and heritage. This study corresponds closely with his earlier study on public appreciation, which was completed for the province in 2018.
