Joanna Pisarczyk

Teacher Creative Business
Joanna is a lecturer and course coordinator for the bachelor's degree in Creative Business and the master's degree in Data-driven Design.


Prior to joining International Communication and Media in 2017, she earned an MSc in Media Technology from Leiden University, worked as a freelance project manager, concept developer, and consultant, and was involved in various technology-related grassroots communities. Since the new program's inception she has developed some of Creative Businesses' core courses, including Introduction to- and International Creative Business. She's specialized in creative techniques and design processes with a technology-driven approach and is primarily involved in courses related to this theme. She is currently a member of the team, where she works on projects involving algorithmic bias and value sensitive design.

General project description Many aspiring data professionals will design systems to provide value to their end-users. However, they do not always understand the issue of data bias. In this workshop, students conduct a few small experiments to test their assumptions and critically discuss how data bias affects people.
