Maxime Welten (1990) is a researcher for the Research group Participation and Urban Development (PSO), and the line of research ‘De maatschappelijke impact van sport en bewegen’ (‘The social impact of sport and exercise’). Maxime obtained a bachelor's degree in Psychology, completed the CALO and graduated with distinction in Public Administration (specialisation in sports policy and sports management).
A passion for social themes, health and especially sport, are the motives that drive her research. To date, Maxime has participated in research into social bonding, social justice, the shadow sides of sport, violence in sport, membership numbers and research into adapted sports.
Maxime is currently also working at GGZinGeest as a GGZ mental healthcare professional. For both the HU and GGZ, Maxime worked as an (event) manager at various (sports) organisations and was active as a trainer and head of youth education. Maxime is also involved with other organisations and educational institutions in various other positions related to education, research and management.
