Our areas of study are evolving at breakneck speed. Therefore, we design our degree programmes in close consultation with the private sector, professional associations and the HU research groups. At HU our degree programmes are sorted in five areas of study: 1) Economics & Management, 2) Health & Social Care, 3) Media, Communication & IT, 4) Science & Technology and 5) Education & Pedagogy.

This way, we can guarantee that our programmes connect seamlessly with contemporary professional practice and meet the highest quality standards. This means that you – as an employer – can immediately reap the benefits of ongoing professionalisation by working with a HU-student.

Economics & Management

Our world is changing constantly. For example, digitalisation and the access to large volumes of data (often in real time) have a major impact on today’s business processes and our public and private security. These and other trends have changed the job market’s need for specific talents, knowledge and skills.

Health & Social Care

The bottom line is: our work is done by people. Through involvement, empathy and strong social skills we make sure that care for others is our main priority. Our students learn how to help people regain control over their health, well-being and, in extension, their lives. So they will once again be able to fully participate in society.

In a number of our programmes, students work in our very own HU clinics. They start working here while still undergraduates which is unique within the healthcare sector. This allows our students to gain practical experience over the entire course of their degree programme: experience that they can put into practice when they start working in your organisation.

Media, Communication & IT

Over the past few years, the digitalisation of society has advanced rapidly. New technological innovations are changing media constantly and, consequently, the way we communicate. This ever-changing, technological world asks for specific talents, knowledge and skills in today’s job market.

Science & Technology

In the study area Science & Technology we ask innovative questions our world needs answered. For example, which uses of digitalisation and robotisation can develop vaccines for specific illnesses? Professionals working in technology, engineering, life sciences and IT can make a difference with innovative and sustainable new technical concepts.

Education & Pedagogy

Working in the area of Education & Pedagogy is all about giving children and young people the best start in life and the most effective support. Our focus is firmly set on the child or teenager. It is not by accident that this area of study is considered a calling. With passion and dedication, we are able to motivate and inspire pupils to learn in their own unique way.
