crosspoint city Utrecht

Please note

At no time can you apply for, or change your Dutch visa/residence permit for the purpose of study without the support of HU University of Applied Sciences Utrecht (HU). The HU is a recognised sponsor for the Dutch Immigration and Naturalisation Service (IND) and is obliged to arrange this permit on your behalf. The application is submitted under strict conditions determined by the Dutch immigration law; for instance there is no possibility to arrange a visa/residence permit for a part-time study programme in the Netherlands. Read more on the site of the IND.

The HU deadline dates & early application restrictions

To ensure your Dutch visa/residence permit is issued before the start of your programme, and to make sure your enrolment is finalised on time, we have to keep very strict deadlines.

All relevant documents must be complete on the deadline applicable to you. Proof of payment of your tuition fees and in some situations, the payment of the deposit of a year of living expenses must be received and processed by our Immigration Unit within two weeks after the immigration deadline. Arrange your payment at least one week before the financial deadline to allow for (bank) administration delays.

Please note: do you have a Dutch residence permit for study at another university, and you wish to change to a study programme at the HU? Than the HU will need to assess whether you qualify for a transfer of sponsorship for your residence permit. You must complete an immigration application with the HU.
