The Acquired Brain Injury – Challenge Assessment (ABI-CA) is a motor skills test specifically designed for children with acquired brain injury. It is important for paediatric physiotherapists that this test is reliable in daily practice so that they can make accurate statements about motor skills and potential treatments. That is the focus of this project.

Objective

In this research project, we aim to investigate the reliability of the ABI-CA with Dutch children and adolescents with Acquired Brain Injury aged between 7 and 23 years. Additionally, we want to gather information on the feasibility, interpretation, and applicability of the ABI-CA in Dutch practice.

Results

We aim to demonstrate with this study that the ABI-CA is reliable for Dutch children with Acquired Brain Injury. Additionally, we expect to gather important information that can help researchers make the ABI-CA even more accessible for use in the daily practice of paediatric physiotherapists.

Approach

In this study, the ABI-CA will be administered to approximately 25 children in various rehabilitation centers. By comparing live and video scoring, we will determine the reliability. Additional questionnaires for children and paediatric physiotherapists will be used to gather information about feasibility.
