Summary

"Teachers in vocational education are increasingly expected to integrate digital tools into their didactic practices and to engage in continuous professional development. At ROC Midden Nederland, this process takes shape within the AI Lab — a practice-based research environment where teachers explore the pedagogical and ethical implications of artificial intelligence in education. Rather than treating digitalization as an end in itself, the AI Lab positions it as a means to strengthen teaching and learning. Teachers collaboratively experiment with AI tools such as chatbots and prompting frameworks, guided by international models like UNESCO’s AI Competency Framework for Teachers and Fitzpatrick’s PREPARE approach. This poster presents insights from our ongoing research on responsible and effective AI integration in vocational education. It highlights how collaborative inquiry fosters both digital literacy and critical reflection, enabling teachers to guide students toward becoming digitally skilled, ethically aware makers of society."
