Hydrogen is emerging as a key element of Europe’s clean energy transition, creating an urgent need for specialised skills across the hydrogen value chain. The GreenSkillsforH2 project addressed this challenge by developing a comprehensive blueprint for upskilling and reskilling, implementing targeted training programmes in
transition regions such as Western Macedonia, Greece. Building on this foundation, the H2VE project advances the approach through Centres of Vocational Excellence (CoVEs), focusing on Hydrogen Valleys and regional skills ecosystems. This article focused on showing how these initiatives, together, strengthen Europe’s hydrogen skills infrastructure and bridge the gap between education, research, and industry.
