Astrid Bolland

Lecturer-researcher

Astrid Bolland has been working as researcher and project leader within the Social Innovation and Innovation in Business and Communication research centres since 2008. Astrid focuses on social innovation in the private sector and social entrepreneurship in the Research group Cooperative Entrepreneurship. In addition, she is involved as a lecturer in the Business Administration/MER degree programme.

After studying Business and Consumer Studies at Wageningen University, Astrid attended SIOO’s advanced diploma Management Consultancy Professional Education programme. She has 15 years of experience working as a management consultant for a variety of firms – predominantly in business services and healthcare sectors. She still regularly carries out short-term assignments for these clients as a freelance consultant.

From 2009 to 2013, she supervised the My Business 2.0 project, a joint initiative of HU University of Applied Sciences Utrecht, TNO, Syntens and Taskforce Innovatie Regio Utrecht. Research performed within Mijn Bedrijf 2.0 shows that the innovative capacity of the participating companies increased as a result. In addition, Astrid has served as project leader of the project ‘Opschalen van sociale ondernemingen: groei in impact’ (‘Scaling up of social enterprises: growth in impact’). Together with 20 social enterprises and a network of knowledge partners, the project team of six researchers works to answer the question ‘How can social enterprises increase their impact on the labour participation of people who are at a disadvantage in today’s employment market?
