Emma works as a researcher in the New Energy in the City department (Nieuwe Energie in de Stad) and as a lecturer in mechanical engineering. Her research focuses on the energy transition in the built environment, particularly related to energy networks and the heat transition. She often employs models and data analysis in her investigations.
Currently, Emma serves as the demonstration leader for the Horizon2020 project ARV. In this role, the university of applied sciences collaborates with housing corporations and the company Inside Out. The objective is to sustainably upgrade social rental homes in Utrecht. As the demonstration leader, Emma oversees the Utrecht demo and facilitates collaboration among the partners.
