Rieke van Bemmel

PhD candidate

Rieke van Bemmel is a PhD candidate affiliated with the Vocational Education research group. She works as a lecturer in the Master's program Learning & Innovation at Windesheim University of Applied Sciences. De focus of her PhD research is on how to  design a responsive curriculum for teacher education in higher professional education.

Since 2015, Rieke worked as a lecturer and educational designer at the Archimedes Institute, where she was involved in the redesign of flexible curricula for all fourteen teacher education programs and various innovation projects. Since 2024, alongside her work as a lecturer in the Master's program in Learning & Innovation at Windesheim University of Applied Sciences, she has been focusing on issues related to the design of flexible learning environments.

Rieke has twenty years of experience as a teacher in primary education. After graduating from her master’s degree of Educational Sciences (educational design and consultancy), she decided to switch from teaching young children to teaching student teachers in teacher education. Her focus is on the design of teacher education curricula and flexible curricula in higher professional education.
