Riki Verhoeven

Researcher

After graduating from the university for teacher education, Riki Verhoeven studied Educational Theory and obtained a master’s degree in E-learning, Multimedia and Consultancy in Sheffield. Her heart lies with children who face challenges in their development and she has a passion for providing education to this group. She has years of experience working in special education at the primary and secondary levels – predominantly in executive roles.

In 1999, she joined HU University of Applied Sciences Utrecht, while continuing to work as the director of a school associated with a paedological institute. In 2000, she started working full-time at the HU, serving as the co-designer and senior manager of the HU’s current Educational Theory degree programmes.

In addition, she has been member of a research group, formulated and implemented parts of a school management learning route and supervised students. In these and other activities, her core business has always been the support and development of education for professionals.
