Enhancing research competence in teacher education

Marnix Academie is currently redeveloping its graduation phase, striving towards optimal integration of research competence in graduation assignments. Students should deploy research competence in the context of complex processes within professional practice, which makes distinct practice-based research unnecessary. This process is the topic of action-research by HU University of Applied Sciences and Marnix Academie.

Objective

Aim of the current project is to gain insight into the process of redesigning the graduation phase, experiences and needs of teacher to stimulate further development.

Results

Our action-research can provide insight into what exchange and professionalization possibilities meet the needs of teachers in further developing the graduation phase.

Duration

01 October 2021 - 01 September 2023

Approach

Action-research will help to identify first steps in redeveloping the graduation phase. Two types of data gathering will be pursued: document analysis and semi-structured interviews. Building on the document analysis and interviews, triangle conversations will be facilitated between students, teachers and school trainers in order to further develop the graduation assignments.
