Objective

The goal is to understand how government organisations can effectively use Linked Data to improve information exchange and collaboration. 

The researcher combines her PhD with work as a business architect at Logius. This dual position makes it possible to connect research questions to current challenges within the Dutch public sector.

  • A systematic literature review on Linked Data in the public sector  
  • Insight into conditions for successful adoption  
  • An architectural framework for semantic interoperability  
  • Practical recommendations for government organisations 

Approach

The research follows a mixed-methods approach, combining a systematic literature review with empirical research within the Dutch public sector. Findings are validated in close collaboration with Logius and other government organisations. 

Education impact

This research is relevant for everyone working on digital transformation within government. The insights on Linked Data and information architecture are directly applicable for architects, policymakers and IT professionals in the public sector. It also contributes to education by making knowledge on semantic interoperability and data-driven working more accessible to students and professionals.
