Multidisciplinary approach to eczema in primary care

Constitutional eczema is a common chronic skin disease characterized by severe itching, redness, and scaling. Eczema is prevalent among young children and adults, causing significant burden for patients, their caregivers, and families, often leading to a low quality of life and high healthcare costs.

Objective

The goal of this project is to improve the quality of life for eczema patients by making eczema care in primary care more efficient. Clear information and appropriate guidance are needed so that eczema patients and their caregivers can better manage eczema and control eczema symptoms through self-management.

  • Multidisciplinary care pathway for eczema in primary care
  • Good collaboration and communication between healthcare professionals in eczema care
  • Optimal guidance in self-management of eczema patients and their caregivers by the skin therapist
  • Improvement in the quality of life of eczema patients and their caregivers

Approach

In this project, a care pathway plan with a multidisciplinary approach for eczema in primary care is developed and tested in regional healthcare practices to improve and apply the care pathway in practice.

The project provides important knowledge and collaborations needed for proper education and treatment of eczema, and better support for eczema patients and their caregivers.
