Anniek van Doornik

Researcher

Anniek van Doornik-van der Zee has been working as a speech therapist since 1994. Since 2007, she has also been a lecturer in speech and language development disorders for the Speech Therapy degree programme at HU University of Applied Sciences Utrecht. She works as a speech therapist with children with speech and language development disorders in her own practice and at special education facilities.

She has been conducting her doctoral research on the severity of paediatric speech development disorders (SOS) since 1 December 2015. Recurring questions from students and colleagues about the severity of an SOS lead Anniek to develop a study called SPEECH. The subject was initially explored in a pilot study she conducted during her Speech Therapy Sciences master’s programme.

With her doctoral research she hopes to make an important contribution to the diagnosis and evaluation of treatments of speech development disorders among children in the Netherlands. It is also hoped that the model will have worldwide application.

Anniek van Doornik is a lecturer for the Speech Therapy degree programme. Students contributed to SPEECH during various phases of its development.
