Els Overkamp (1969) studied Public Administration at the University of Twente. She subsequently obtained her doctorate on a study into the effects of the policy of deconcentration in the 1990s, relating to the integration of people with intellectual disabilities.
Immediately after her promotion, she started working as a management secretary at a GGD mental care facility, and then as a consultant in healthcare (Bureau HHM). Since 2011, she has been a senior lecturer at the Institute for Social Work. She is also coordinator of the ‘Professionalisering van sociaal werk’ (‘Professionalisation of social work’) programme line of the Research group Participation, Care and Support.
