Esther van Benten is a PhD candidate affiliated with the Research Group on Clinical Decision-Making in Movement Care and the Faculty of Behavioural and Movement Sciences at VU University Amsterdam. Her doctoral research focuses on the prognostic value of the perception of pelvic pain during pregnancy.

Esther has 15 years of experience as a physiotherapist and manual therapist and is also a clinical epidemiologist. Since 2018, she has been a lecturer in the Master's program in Orthopaedic Manual Therapy at HU University of Applied Sciences. She teaches topics related to the pelvic region, qualitative and quantitative research, and supervises development groups within the programmatic assessment framework of the Master's program.
