Dutch healthcare is under pressure. The system risks coming to a standstill due to population ageing and an increase in chronic conditions. The government sees the solution in a transition towards appropriate care: value-driven, established together with the patient, and providing the right care in the right place.

The research group Clinical Decision-Making in Movement Care aims to contribute to appropriate care by gathering knowledge about patient prognosis and using this knowledge in the process of shared decision-making with the patient. We use data collected in physiotherapy practices and explore the potential of sensors and Artificial Intelligence as technical support for decision-making.

Lines of research within the research group

Analysis of data from cohorts and electronic health records to derive prognostic information.

Collected through wearables and sensors, to refine prognostic models and as a causal factor in chronic pain.

Integration of relevant data into the shared decision making process between patient and healthcare professional in daily practice.

Collaboration

The research group develops knowledge for and with professional practice (especially Cesar kinesio-therapists and physiotherapists). The aim is to innovate our healthcare and to establish networks in the area of exercise and health.
