Jacques Verheijke
Jacques works as a programme advisor and process supervisor in the educational and social domain. He works in the Research group Normative Professionalization and is performing PhD research into connecting approaches to work by education professionals working in disadvantaged neighbourhoods. Jacques has been partly seconded by HU University of Applied Sciences Utrecht to HZ University of Applied Sciences as a project leader for the ‘Opleiden in School’ (‘Training in the school’) programme.
After graduating from the university for teacher education (pabo), Jacques attended the degree programmes Special Education and Child-rearing MO-A and MO-B, the Clinical and Special Education and Child-rearing university degree programme in Leiden, the base registration programme for Psychological Evaluation and the registration programme for Healthcare Psychologists. He worked successively as a teacher, internal supervisor and vice-principal in regular primary education. After this, he was appointed director of a primary school for special needs pupils.
Since 2001, he has worked full-time for HU University of Applied Sciences Utrecht/Teacher-Training Institute for Special Education. He started here as a lecturer and teacher-trainer within a variety of master’s degree programmes.
Besides working as a researcher, Jacques is also a consultant and supervisor for municipal administrations, education committees, regular and special primary and secondary schools and alliances in the field of suitable education. In addition, he works as process supervisor in a number of community school/integrated children’s centre projects. He has also gained considerable experience in the development of education and supervision, coaching and training programmes.
He supports, motivates and inspires others to embark on a joint quest for alternative – and even better – solution methods, by guiding them via a transparent process.
