Since September 2025, Kees has been working as a PhD researcher at the Artificial Intelligence research group (LAI). His research, situated at the intersection of AI and philosophy, raises critical questions about the possibilities of artificial moral agency and self-knowledge in AI.

Alongside his doctoral research, Kees is affiliated with the Pool for Methodological Support in Practice-Based Research (PoMP) and is co-developer and lecturer in the course Denkgereedschappen voor het AI-tijdperk.
Kees has a background in philosophy of science and has worked at HU since 2018 in the Research Group on Research Competence (Onderzoekend Vermogen).
