Mariecke Schipper

Researcher

Mariecke Schipper (1967) has been a lecturer and researcher at the Institute for IT since 2016. She is responsible for the development of the Professional Skills learning continuity pathway. Within this learning continuity pathway, the communication and social skills of students are developed using various courses and projects.

This helps students develop into Information and Communication Technology (ICT) professionals. During courses in communication skills, Mariecke found that technical students in particular had a lot of trouble with and even reacted negatively to training in professional skills. This led her to investigate which factors play a role in teaching these skills to IT students.

Mariecke studied Dutch Language & Literature at Utrecht University. After her studies, she provided training and research assignments as an independent communication consultant for various organisations, including for the Tax Authorities, the Dutch Railways and HU University of Applied Sciences Utrecht.
