Max Huber is a senior researcher at the research group Housing and Wellbeing, since 2025, as part of the research project Suitable Housing, focusing on alternative forms of housing. He also works as senior researcher and teammanager of the research department at HVO-Querido.

Max has been doing practice focused research into homeless care and supported housing since 2008, with an emphasis on places that support empowerment and recovery. He has a bachelor in social work and a master in sociology. He obtained his PhD at the Free University of Amsterdam, with a dissertation on a consumer run homeless shelter.
With his research, Max wants to contribute to a sense of home for people that are not able to find a home. Therefore it is important that alternative housing programs embrace the principles of an healing environment, supporting autonomy, bonding and a sense of competence.
