Miriam has been working as a PhD candidate at the research group Vocational Education since January 2025, within the national project Doing What Works for Children. In this research, she combines her background in educational and pedagogical sciences with her experience as a social worker and “orthopedagoog” in youth mental health care.
Richtext intro 1
After her research master's in Behavioral and Social Sciences, Miriam worked as “orthopedagoog” in mental health care and as a lecturer at UMCG within SCOPE, an expertise-center for educational development and research on personal development. Her research focused on boundary crossing within learning communities of local stakeholders and students, and the influence of implicit beliefs on personal and professional identity development.
The interest of Miriam lies in the interaction between systems, contexts, structures, and individual development, and how this development can be supported within specific contexts.
