Pien de Jonge

Researcher
Pien de Jonge started working as a researcher in the Housing and Welfare department in August 2025. Her research primarily involves understanding the nature and scope of homelessness and housing exclusion in the Netherlands.

After completing her Interdisciplinary Social Science degree at the University of Amsterdam, Pien started working for an aid organization that supports homeless EU citizens/people at risk of homelessness in Berlin. Afterwards, she moved back to the Netherlands to pursue a Master's degree in Social Challenges, Policies, and Interventions at Utrecht University. During this master's program, she focused primarily on the identification of and support for homeless individuals that are living in public spaces in Dutch cities

Pien is driven by projects that create meaningful societal change. Drawing on her practical and academic knowledge and experience in the field of homelessness, she aims to improve the position of homeless individuals in the Netherlands in the coming years.
