Thijs Kurstjens
Thijs Kurstjens started his Professional Doctorate in February 2026, titled The Future-Proof Housing Association. He is conducting this research within the research group New Energy in the City. In addition, he works at two housing associations in Tilburg as a policy advisor and Sustainability Program Manager. These housing associations also serve as the practical environment for the short-cycle action research.

Inspired by and for the sustainable development of our built environment, I am eager to contribute to the concrete challenges that come with it. With a background in architecture and building technology, I have been active for over 25 years as an advisor on the sustainability of real estate (portfolios).
