We are developing our ongoing Bird's Eye Perspective research into a 3.0 learning environment where we apply conversation analysis and algorithms to social media posts. This learning environment aims to train communication professionals to identify emerging issues in online conversations.

Objective

The project aims to provide communication professionals with insight into the effects of language use in online discussions and the risk of issue formation.

Results

We are developing a learning environment that enables communication professionals, particularly from government agencies, to further professionalize their online activities.

Approach

Following the Goed Gereageerd and 360 Newsroom projects, the BEP27 project will not only expand and automate the analysis of social media posts, and further train and refine the algorithm, but also explore the possibilities of social media analysis and investigate the daily activities in newsrooms. We will do this using ethnography, context and discourse analysis, interviews, artificial intelligence, and smart education.

Education impact

The findings will be incorporated into the participating partners' organizations and beyond.

In addition, workshops, internships, and assignments are being developed for the Communications Institute and HU consultancy Scompany.
