DPP: The key to a circular EEA value chain

  • Project
  • September 2025 – August 2027

Digital Product Passports play a crucial role in the transition to a circular economy by making product and usage data accessible, thereby encouraging repair, extending product lifespan and reuse. Our research question is: How can a DPP contribute to improving the circularity of household appliances?

Objective

In collaboration with our partners, we are developing a DPP solution that enables companies throughout the lifecycle of household appliances to support the circularity of the product. Besides delivering a technological solution, we also evaluate the needs of companies to integrate the DPP into their daily operations.

Results

  • Personas of the roles within the DPP ecosystem for home appliances
  • DPP solution for capturing and accessing product data
  • Tools for integrating DPP into existing business operations

Duration

01 September 2025 - 31 August 2027

Approach

Using Design Science Research, we will design, develop, and test the DPP solution through interactive workshops with all parties in the value chain.

Impact for education

Information processing throughout the entire value chain and the DPP concept are relatively new. This project aims to collaborate with students and professionals to explore how technology should be designed and how to organize the value chain so that everyone can participate.
