Innovative behaviour of novice teachers in secondary education

Educational innovations arise, among other things, because teachers display innovative work behavior by generating, promoting and realizing ideas. Little research has been done on the target group of novice teachers and their innovative work behavior and which factors influence this. While their qualities are also needed for innovation in education.

Objective

The project aims to provide insight into the way in which novice teachers in secondary education implement innovative behavior and which personal and influencing factors influence this innovative behavior.

Results

The insights gained can be used by (training) schools to, for example, adapt guidance programs for novice teachers so that optimal use is made of the innovative potential of novice teachers in secondary education.

Approach

At five training schools, several novice teachers are interviewed to gain insight into their perception of their innovative behavior and influencing factors. The method that is followed is a multiple case study.
