Dementia is a common condition in our time. It can touch something very deep within us. Our sense of who we have always been, and our connection to the people closest to us. The fear of losing yourself, and of losing each other, runs through how dementia is often spoken about. This thesis shifts the focus to everyday life with dementia, as it is experienced by people with dementia themselves and by those close to them. To give people with dementia a voice in shaping this doctoral research, I set up the first Dutch group of co-researchers with dementia. The group named itself Brain Power.
