Anita Cremers

Professor

Prof. Anita Cremers has occupied an endowed chair in Multimodal User Interface Design within the group Co-Design since 2010. She has worked on a large number of RAAK projects – many of which are found within the Care domain.

Anita studied Linguistics at Tilburg University from 1986 to 1991, specialising in Language & Information Technology. After this, she was conferred a PhD by Eindhoven University of Technology for her thesis about human-computer dialogues. After obtaining her doctorate, Anita worked on human-system dialogues at KPN Research (Leidschendam). Since 2000, she has been working as a researcher for TNO on a variety of Dutch and European projects in the field of human-computer interaction design and the involvement of end users in the technology development process.

The emphasis in her projects lies on the development – by means of co-design – of technology that can be used to promote the self-sufficiency of vulnerable target groups who often deal with limited health literacy (e.g. senior citizens, people who have suffered a stroke, people with limited literacy, immigrants and people with a mild mental disability). The main challenge is to design technology in such a way that it offers an optimal user experience.
