Dr. Patrick Baesjou is since 2017 a scientist-lecturer at the University of Applied Sciences Utrecht, at the Institute of Life Sciences and Chemistry (ILC) and the lectorate Innovative Testing (INT), where he is involved in research&education in the field of polymers and sustainability. Since 2023 he is senior scientist-lecturer, and in that function also involved with the Institute for Design and Engineering (IDE) and the lectorate Applied Urban Energy Transition. Within this function he works on biobased and circular building materials, and connecting the two institutes and lectorates in research&education.

Patrick Baesjou did his MSc in Chemistry in Utrecht, followed by a PhD in Leiden (1997). After a postdoc in Princeton (USA), he started as a Senior Scientist at Philips Research in Eindhoven, where he was involved in several projects centering on nanomaterials for optical and electronic applications, and sustainability. While at Philips, he also started in 2011 as a guest assistant professor at the Univeristy of Utrecht (department of Physics), working on soft matter chemistry and physics.
