Patrick van Veenendaal

Researcher

Patrick van Veenendaal PhD has been working as a senior lecturer for the Institute for Design & Engineering (IDE) since 2017. His main focus is on the masters within IDE and Healthcare Technology, including Fieldlab 3DMedical. He works on various multidisciplinary projects within the Research group Smart Systems for Healthy Living at IDE.

Patrick is trained as a Materials Engineer at Delft University of Technology, after which he conducted doctoral research at the University of Utrecht into silicon solar cells (dissertation: 'Hot-wire chemical vapor deposition of polycrystalline silicon solar cells'). After obtaining his doctorate, Patrick worked as a program officer at NWO and RVO and as a department secretary and subsidy advisor at Delft University of Technology and Wageningen University & Research.

Patrick is motivated by multidisciplinary collaboration between different fields and at different levels. His current focus is on health technology, because many disruptive innovations will be applied in this field over the coming period to fortify cure & care.
