Utrecht, city of tomorrow

If you choose HU, you choose Utrecht. An easily navigated metropolis where you'll soon feel at home. And with almost 70,000 students, Utrecht is a true student city where you'll make friends for life.

Architect-designed buildings with excellent facilities

Our beautiful buildings offer you modern facilities for your studies. There are project rooms and quiet working spaces, laboratories, practice rooms and institute areas, science cafés and food courts. Our buildings are all about meeting, connecting and working together.

Customised learning

At HU you don't just learn in the classroom, but also via internships, in learning teams, individually and online. We call this 'blended learning': the right mix of learning in different locations and in a variety of ways. The best thing about this for you? It will keep your education varied and your focus sharp.

Practice-based education

Your teachers are directly linked to the professional world and use this practical experience to help you learn. Together with other students, you will work in exciting real-life projects for international companies. Internships are part of our programmes and give you a taste of what to expect when you graduate.

Individual supervision and coaching

Our small classes ensure you get sufficient individual supervision and your SCCs (Student Career Coaches) help you with any study or personal problems, work placement preparation or study planning. In your first year you will also have a personal buddy who helps you find your way around HU and the city.

Stimulating talent

HU offers special programmes for motivated and talented students. The HU Honours programme gives you the opportunity to extend your knowledge and study particular areas in greater depth. You can do this by completing the full Honours Programme, or by following an additional course or an additional, challenging internship.

Ready for the future

We provide modern education and conduct a lot of practice-based research. Together with partner organisations, we ensure our programmes match up to available jobs. What this means for you? That you'll have great career opportunities after your graduation and likely a higher starting salary than graduates from other institutions.

A sustainable university

Are you conscious about sustainability and the environment? At HU University of Applied Sciences Utrecht, we definitely are. Because sustainability is at the core of our education and research programmes, and our daily operations, we have been awarded 'most sustainable university of applied sciences in the Netherlands' for four years in a row. We strongly feel that sustainability is not a choice, but our duty to society.
