Teacher Education in French (Part-Time)
Teacher Education in French is a four-year programme in an international setting that joins our successful international Language Education programmes for English and German, as well as Spanish. You will be taught in English and French by our experienced lecturers and get to enjoy Utrecht's vibrant student life. You will have frequent and intensive contact with France, spending time there from your 1st year onwards. Internships at Dutch schools are also a vital and highly educational part of the programme.

During the programme
During our Teacher Education in French programme you will learn about teaching methodology, literature and culture of the French-speaking countries, linguistics, and second language acquisition. Further, you will study pedagogics, which focuses on topics like child development psychology, working with pupils with special needs, and working in a multicultural environment. You will also prepare and teach classes and do research at your work placement school. All this prepares you for a successful career in education.
As the teaching population is aging, there are many opportunities for language teachers within Dutch secondary or vocational education, or you can work at a language school in The Netherlands or abroad.

If you want to apply to our Teacher Education in French programme, you need to have a secondary school diploma, and speak English at least at CEFR level B1. You also need to command French at CEFR level B1 (Listening and Reading) and A2 (Speaking and Writing). A language test is part of the admission process. Of course, love for French and teaching is a must!
You enjoy being surrounded by others, have an affinity with young people and possess great communicative and social skills.
