Research group Mathematical and analytical competence of professionals
The research group investigates which mathematical and analytical competence professionals need now that workplaces are changing rapidly due to digitalization and technology. We are committed to equip (prospective) professionals with confidence and a problem-solving attitude to deal with mathematical, numerical and statistical problems in workplace situations.
Lines of research within the research group
The Common European Numeracy Framework
More than one million Dutch have problems with numeracy. This can make life very difficult, which is why we are designing a European numeracy framework.
Mathematics for future engineers: from theory to application
In this project we identify what the young engineer needs in terms of techno-mathematical skills and how education can connect.
Handling contemporary information sources
Exploratory study of what aspects are important for understanding contemporary information sources by people with limited basic skills.
