Objective

The goal is to provide public organizations with tools and a practical perspective to incorporate public values into the development or procurement of digital applications.

To this end, a modular toolbox is being developed. This contains elements for policymakers, developers, purchasers, and administrators to explicitly address how (specific) values are impacted by the use of a digital application. Additionally, it offers a practical perspective to improve a system based on this analysis and to initiate a dialogue about what actually constitutes an improvement.

Results

A practical toolbox that helps everyone involved in designing, deploying, and evaluating digital applications reflect on how people and society are affected.

Approach

This PD project is an iterative process that experiments with making public values practical, starting from real-world problems. Design science research and value-sensitive design are central to this process.
