Strategic Planning in Networks to Digitally Transform Education (SPiN2DTE)
In a volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous environment, the education sector is under digital pressure to implement structural changes, the digital transformation. Education is a complex adaptive system undergoing this transformation, but how do these interdependent organisations work together to make plans and decisions?
Objective
This project examines large collaborations in education (> 8 organisations) that are undergoing digital transformation and how they organise themselves collectively and better prepare for an uncertain future. The goal is to identify which processes and interventions play a role in long-term decision-making, and how these collaborative organisations can be effectively facilitated.
Results
The expected outcomes are:
- A portfolio of evidence-based interventions
- An understanding of the capacity organisations need to carry out strategic planning.
Approach
This research consists of several project phases.
Phase 1: Start-up phase
Scoping of key concepts
Case study research plan
Phase 2: Designing interventions
Phase 3: Developing and testing interventions
Phase 4: Finalisation and delivery of results
Education impact
As part of a professional doctorate (PD) program, this research focuses primarily on innovation and change in professional practice, in this case, the management of a collaborative organisations that aims to introduce a forward-looking approach to education to collectively address digital transformation. Insights arising from this research provide information and/or inspiration for collaborative organisations that face strategic decision-making in uncertain times.
