Simona Karbouniaris (1980) has been working for the Research Centre for Social Innovation since 2006. She has conducted numerous scientific and practice-based research projects into quartermasters, ‘hands-on experts’, volunteers and professionals in care and welfare institutions.
Simona is a certified Social Worker, specialised in Dance and Movement. She later obtained her master's degree in Social Intervention. She has a special affinity for the practice of mental healthcare from a patient-oriented perspective.
She is currently conducting doctoral research at the VU University Medical Center Amsterdam into the contribution of professionalised ‘hands-on expertise’ for restorative mental health care (GGZ). She is also involved in the educational innovation of the Social Work degree programme. She is a certified teacher of Supportive Relational Intervention (SRH). Simona is also chairman of the national Higher Professional Education Committee for Hands-on Knowledge and Expertise (HOED).
