Pediatric physiotherapists want to help children with disabilities become more active in their own environment. This requires new skills and collaboration. This project explores how professionals can learn together—both digitally and physically—to strengthen their practice.

Samen in Beweging

Objective

The aim of this project is to design a socio‑technical system that stimulates collaborative learning among pediatric physiotherapists, enabling them to strengthen their professional practice and respond more effectively to complex care needs within appropriate care.

Results

  • Insight into the needs of pediatric physiotherapists regarding collaborative learning
  • A designed and tested socio‑technical learning system
  • Actionable design principles for sustainable learning communities
  • Publications and practical tools for the professional field

Approach

We combine literature research, generative interviews, and focus groups with co‑creation and living labs. Across three design cycles, we work together with pediatric physiotherapists to develop and test a socio‑technical system that connects digital and physical learning.

HUB for the child in motion

This project builds on the HUB for the child in motion (kindinbeweging-hub.nl): a digital development platform for pediatric physiotherapists. The HUB supports knowledge sharing and forms the foundation for further strengthening collaborative learning within regional and national networks.

Education impact

This project strengthens professional practice by better equipping pediatric physical therapists to learn collaboratively and address complex care challenges. It supports them in the transition toward appropriate care and fosters regional collaboration.

For education, the project provides insights into how professionals can continue to learn effectively in and from practice. The developed design principles and experiences with the socio-technical system can be applied in initial training programs as well as in lifelong learning initiatives.
